This look says it all - I love you, I'll be watching over you- I'll try not to judge.
When we remember our pets - there is so much we love about them. It is my absolute honor to draw them for their human partners (I don't like saying owner - it feels wrong). I've worked with this client before when she lost her other fur baby a few months before this one. It's so emotional and they're only with us for a short time.
Pearlie's human sent me a few pictures to choose from and discuss, the look on her face in one photo was priceless. I couldn't pass it up and told her so. She also loved it because it was one of the last photos of her with her tiny teeth. She'd had them pulled in the last months of her life and despite that, Pearlie kept wagging her tail and snacking like she still had those teefies.
I always keep how much they love their babies when I'm drawing them to do a good job. Her human requested I draw her on my live on Tiktok (@melissastagi) and I did. Those are the best requests - she saw her Pearlie come to life on paper. It's an absolute joy and honor for me to do this. And a great way to remember them.
